What is Shadow Dev?
This common question has a time-tested answer. Simply, we are
a professional web development company that specializes in customized
and automated web development. In other words, we work with the
code of a web page rather than use a Visual Editor
(i.e.: DreamWeaver or FrontPage). This allows for us to have more
control of what processes through the page, like placement, content,
and design.
Many so called "Webmasters" of today are self-proclaimed, all because they can use a visual editor and create a site in five minutes. But that doesn't always mean that the website will work. We progressively work through each page of your website, working with what you want, and design it in such a way that your browsing audience can find exactly what they need.
Why the "Shadow"?
When Shadow Development Technologies first formed back on October 15, 2005, the concept of "staying in the shadows" with the idea of "you get all the credit" stuck in the foundation of the company. We wanted to be working "backstage" for your professional site, letting our clients get the appreciation and praise for having a professional site.
The "Shadow" concept was establised by our founder, Kyle Perkins, because he had developed so many other web applications. However, nobody knew how they worked, but they knew that they were great. For example, NetLink, a content management system with a site editor, was created as Kyle's graduation project from Southeast Raleigh High School in Raleigh, NC, and the concept of creating professional web applications has been our founding point ever since.
What's the main advantage of what you have?
The best way to answer this would be via example. With DreamWeaver, you can create a calendar of events and have every single page be a different day. That is: if you want to spend about a week every month just updating information.
With our method of hand-coding the information, all you have to do is insert your information once, and the site takes care of the rest. Your calendars are dynamically created, modified, and deleted; each different day is viewed with the correct information, and best part of all, you don't really have to do anything else!
Best part of all, you don't have to spend thousands of dollars on an amateur "Webmaster" to do it for you! You insert the information once, and you are done! Your site is self-maintaining.

Unlike having a "verbal contract" with someone you are close to, then not having them live up to what you discussed, you can guarentee that we will work with you one-on-one to complete your site, and help you keep it maintained. We have over 20 usability tests we preform before a site is published. This means that we put each site we develop through 20 different tests to determine how usable the site is, is it easily navigatable, how the site works in different environments, and more, just to make sure you have the best site possible.
